WEFC Spring Development Programs '26

Futures & Pre-Academy

Program Overview

The WEFC Spring Development Programs provide age-appropriate, player-centered pathways for our youngest athletes. Designed around confidence, coordination, creativity, and a love for the game, these programs introduce players to soccer in a supportive environment while preparing families for the next stages of the WEFC pathway.

Players are grouped by developmental readiness, not pressure or results. WEFC aligns player development and future team placement with the U.S. Soccer Academic-Year Age Matrix (August 1 – July 31) to support long-term growth and smooth transitions into team environments.

Registration listings are organized by birth year for administrative purposes only.

WEFC Futures Program (Kindergarten)

Birth Years: 2020 & 2021

Duration: 7 weeks

Training Day: Fridays | 4:30–5:30 PM

Location: Essex Fells Field Complex

The Futures program is a fun, low-pressure introduction to soccer designed specifically for kindergarten-age players. Sessions focus on movement, balance, coordination, and playful interaction with the ball.

There are no evaluations and no league competition. The emphasis is on confidence, enjoyment, and positive first experiences.

WEFC Pre-Academy Program (Bridge to Team Soccer)

Birth Years: 2019 (optional advanced 2020s) (2018s non-travel)

Duration: 8 weeks

Training Days:

Wednesdays | 4:30–5:30 PM

Fridays | 5:30–6:30 PM

Location: Essex Fells Field Complex

The Pre-Academy program serves as the bridge between introductory soccer and formal team environments. Players train twice per week under WEFC trainers and begin developing the habits, coordination, and understanding needed for U8 team soccer in the fall.

Participation in the Pre-Academy does not guarantee future team placement; movement through the pathway is based on readiness and long-term development.
